At the plea proceedings, Hampton admitted to intentionally causing the victim physical injury by means of a sharp object.
DA Hoovler thanked the City of Newburgh Police Department for their investigation which led to the arrest of Hampton.
"This defendant's violent admitted actions are as vicious as they are senseless," Hoovler said. "We work closely with our law enforcement partners to identify the perpetrators of violent crime and to build cases that ultimately hold them accountable. While the victim in this case thankfully avoided more serious injury, the significant prison sentence imposed on this offender reflects the gravity of the crimes committed."
