8 Hudson Valley Hospitals Earn 'A' Rating On New Safety Grades

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Eight hospitals in the Hudson Valley were given top marks in The Leapfrog Group's fall 2025 hospital safety grades released Thursday.

The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit health care watchdog group that grades hospital twice a year, assigns letter grades ranging from "A" to "F" for all general hospital in the U.S. based on how well they prevent medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections.

The group, founded 25 years ago, says it aims to improve American health care through transparency.

Here are the eight hospitals in the Hudson Valley that achieved an A grade:

  • New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital (Cortlandt Manor)
  • New York-Presbyterian Westchester (Bronxville)
  • Northwell's Northern Westchester Hospital (Mount Kisco)
  • Northwell's Phelps Hospital (Sleepy Hollow)
  • Northern Dutchess Hospital of Nuvance Health (Rhinebeck)
  • Putnam Hospital of Nuvance Health (Carmel)
  • White Plains Hospital (White Plains)
  • WMC Health's St. Anthony Community Hospital (Warwick)
