First Big Snow Of The Season Is Headed Our Way, According To Latest Forecast

Snow fall totals ranging from a dusting to 6 inches are expected across the Hudson Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Just in time for the start of the holiday season, the National Weather Service expects much of the Hudson Valley to see substantial accumulating snow early this week.

According to the NWS, the highest confidence forecast for Tuesday calls for accumulating snow across northern portions of the region, including the interior of the Lower Hudson Valley. A coating is possible closer to coastal areas, with mainly rain elsewhere.

Accumulating snow is now expected across northern portions of the Hudson Valley with 2 to 5 inches across Orange and Putnam counties. Up to 6 inches of snow is possible across the higher elevations, according to the forecast.

Parts of the northern New York City metro area, including southern Westchester County could see a dusting to several tenths of an inch of accumulating snow, according to the NWS.

The snow is expected to start late Monday in many areas, with accumulation by early Tuesday morning — just in time to make for snow-covered roads and hazardous travel conditions for the a.m. commute.
