Hudson Park Children's Greenhouse Announces Exciting March 2025 Gardening Classes for Elementary and Middle School Students

New Rochelle, NY, February 8, 2025

Hudson Park Children's Greenhouse is excited to unveil its upcoming March 2025 gardening classes for children, designed to foster a love for nature, creativity, and scientific exploration. These hands-on sessions, part of the 4H/Cornell Cooperative Class Series, will take place on Sundays throughout March and are tailored for elementary and middle school students.

Class Schedule:

  • Sunday, March 9th – Ancient Rock Art at 1:30 PM Students will create petroglyphic art using organic and mineral materials similar to those used by Paleolithic people. They will learn how to make natural paints and replicate ancient rock art. Cost: $15
  • Sunday, March 16th – Hydroponics at 1:30 PM Students will explore the basics of indoor agriculture and learn how to grow vegetables in water. This session will introduce various hydroponic gardening methods and the science behind growing plants without soil. Cost: $15
  • Sunday, March 23rd – The Fisherman’s Art of Gyotaku at 1:30 PM Students will learn the Japanese fishermen’s technique of recording the size of their catches using ink and paper. Originating in 19th-century Japan, gyotaku (meaning "print fish") evolved into a beautiful art form. Cost: $15
  • Sunday, March 30th – Bees’ Knees at 1:30 PM Students will discover the fascinating world of honeybees and their popular byproduct, beeswax. They will learn how honeybees create beeswax and honey, make their own lip balm, and sample different varieties of honey. Cost: $15
