Lottery, Registration Info For New Rochelle Pre-K, Kindergarten

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The lottery for free Pre-K is open now for families in the The City School District of New Rochelle.

Online applications are open for City School District of New Rochelle parents and guardians who want to enter the lottery for pre-kindergarten enrollment. Enrollment in kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year (beginning in September) will open on February 4.

Applications are available for the pre-kindergarten lottery for children born in 2021. Applications will be accepted through January 31 for the first round of pre-kindergarten placements. Families will be randomly selected through an online platform and will be notified of their pre-kindergarten placement beginning on February 4. The lottery will remain open after that date for any families still seeking a pre-kindergarten placement.

Families whose child or children will turn five by December 31, 2025, may register for kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year beginning February 4. Each child’s school placement is determined by their neighborhood of residence. Families who live in the Lincoln Attendance Zone should contact Central Registration at 914-576-4274 or the Superintendent’s Office at 914-576-4200 for placement.

Families who need assistance with completing their applications are invited to attend a support session at the New Rochelle Public Library on one of the following dates:

• Saturday, January 25 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon (Pre-K lottery ONLY)
• Saturday, March 8 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon (Magnet Lottery and Registration
• Saturday, March 15 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon (Magnet Lottery and Registration)

Registration for the current 2024-2025 school year remains open.
