Newborn Decides Not To Wait For The Delivery Room (Or The Ambulance)

There were plenty of experts on hand to make sure that mom and baby were doing well after the surprise birthday party.

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — If you think you had a big day planned yesterday, you should meet one of Westchester's newest residents, who just couldn't wait to be born.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Croton EMS, Croton police and the Ossining Paramedic Fly Car were called to a home in the village for an "imminent birth."

Dozens of first responders rushed to the scene, but the eager newborn had already arrived by the time emergency crews arrived. It was a good thing that so many highly trained first responders were invited to this special event. There were plenty of experts on hand to make sure that mom and baby boy were doing well after the surprise birthday party.

"Everyone from our dispatchers at 60 Control as well as CEMS, OVAC, CFD and CPD worked together and were able to help the mother and her newborn son - an excellent team effort (granted Mom did all of the real work before anyone got there)," the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department in the unusual birth announcement on social media. "Welcome to the Croton community, little guy."
