Nice Try, But No Car: Trooper Isn't Fooled By Hand-Drawn Inspection, Registration Stickers

The New York State Police took the opportunity to remind motorists that "arts and crafts supplies do not count as valid documentation."

NEW YORK — A feeble, and somewhat silly attempt to forge required vehicle documentation had serious consequences when a trooper got a close look, according to New York State Police.

After a trooper stopped a car on Thursday, because the vehicle had switched plates from a different vehicle entirely, the trooper noticed something odd.

"The vehicle’s 'inspection' and 'registration' on the windshield were not official at all. In fact they appeared to be hand drawn using a mix of pen, marker, and crayon with an impressive amount of confidence," according to NYSP. "As a friendly reminder arts and crafts supplies do not count as valid documentation."

While the flimsy attempt to deceive continues to be a source of amusement, the driver is likely not laughing. The driver was issued several tickets and the vehicle was taken off the road.
