The countdown has begun: Just a few weeks until the return of the Summer Sounds Concert Series! The beloved free concerts -– presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts (NRCA) -- kicks off June 25th at the historic Hudson Park bandshell and features TWO nights of live music, Wednesdays AND Fridays (except July 4th), every week.

The Summer Sounds Concert Series will start its 18th season with Back to the Garden 1969, a "Woodstock tribute band" playing classic rock, and finish on Friday, August 22nd with a double bill featuring Morrisania Band Project (playing soul, R & B, funk) and Matt Relevo (playing pop). In between the series will feature an eclectic lineup of musicians performing everything from Top 40 favorites to country, reggae to Motown, as well as Latin, funk and soul.

In addition, NRCA will present two theater performances at the adjacent Wildcliff Mansion: On Saturday, June 21st at 6 pm the Red Monkey Theater Group will present Shakespeare’s As You Like It: All the world’s a stage as the characters in Shakespeare’s classic comedy navigate politics, injustice, love, and gender identity. Join us at historic Wildcliff Mansion overlooking the Long Island Sound to see if love really can conquer all!

And on Saturday, July 19th at 6 pm the Rivertown Players will present What the Constitution Means to Me (rain date July 26th.) This 2019 play -– which won the NY Drama Critics Award for Best American Play –- “breathes new life into our Constitution.”

This year NRCA's Summer Sounds Concert committee -- co chaired by Margaret Chadwick and Dave Fabris -- received 190 submissions for just 19 spots. Committee members listened to every band's submission, then met to come up with a lineup with something for everyone.
