SELF at the NRCA Rotunda Gallery

Exhibit of self portraits on view through November 29th

SELF – an exhibit celebrating the art of the self portrait – is currently on view at the NRCA Rotunda Gallery at New Rochelle’s City Hall. The public is invited to the Artists Reception which will be held on Wednesday November 6, from 5 pm to 7:30 pm. The exhibit will run through November 29th.

Curated by NRCA’s Gallery Chair Lynn Honeysett, this exhibition explores the traditional self-portrait, which artists have always used to explore and practice technique, using themselves as handy and free models. Lynn Honeysett says “The portraits in SELF proclaim a definite point of view; we have a chance to see things through the artist's unique lens, ranging from a statement of identity to a passing mood.”

Honeysett says self-portraits are also very much forms of personal expression, announcing to the viewer “This is the lens I use to look at the world”: Our fascination is in the intriguing blend of intended and unconscious reveal as SELF’s artists journey through wonder, pain, perplexity, love -- and tussle with identity.”
