Shakespeare at Wildcliff Mansion
NRCA kicks off the Summer Sounds Concert season with live theater
Wildcliff Mansion was once again a full house as the Red Monkey Theater Group brought their production of "As You Like It" to New Rochelle on Saturday night, June 21. Shakespeare 's pastoral rom-com was free, sponsored by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts.
Audience members came early to picnic to the sounds of live music (Elizabethan-inspired tunes played by Pamela Sklar on flute with Alyssa Reit on Celtic harp) then sat inside the stabilized remains of Wildcliff to watch displaced rulers and misunderstood lovers flee to the forest where all was resolved.
Red Monkey’s production of "As You Like It" moves to Lyndhurst for three weeks starting July 11th . The play will be performed outside under the metal skeleton of the Lord & Burnham 1880s gothic greenhouse. Tickets cost $49 plus handling fees; go to https://lyndhurst.org/events/summer-theater-2025/ for more information.

Next up at Wildcliff: NRCA will present the Rivertowns Playhouse production of "What the Constitution Means to Me" on July 19th at 6 pm. Winner of the 2019 Pulitzer Prize, this boundary-breaking play breathes new life into our Constitution and imagines how it will shape the next generation of Americans. Fifteen-year-old Heidi earned her college tuition by winning Constitutional debate competitions across the United States. In this hilarious, hopeful and achingly human new play, she resurrects her teenage self in order to trace the profound relationship between four generations of women and the founding document that shaped their lives.
