NEW ROCHELLE, NY — There's a new taco project in town, and the celebration will extend across the tri-state region.

The Taco Project, a Mexican-inspired restaurant, will be celebrating the grand opening of its sixth location, at 596 North Ave., in the new Illustrator building, in New Rochelle. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Tuesday, at 10:45 a.m., followed by the Grand Opening celebration at 11 a.m.

The first location opened in Tarrytown, in October 2014, followed by Yonkers in 2017, Bronxville in 2019, Pleasantville in 2021, and Stamford in 2022.

The eight-time "Best of Westchester" winner says, "with a commitment to using only the freshest ingredients, all Taco Project restaurants offer a wide array of mouth-watering tacos, burritos, bowls, salads, churros, margaritas, and other Mexican-inspired favorites. The Taco Project has options for everyone, including vegan and vegetarian selections, all served in a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere."

The company says the locations are perfect for a quick, tasty lunch or dinner or for catering private parties or corporate events. In addition, a new food truck is now delivering delicious tacos and other tasty treats on the go.

Taco Project founders Nick Mesce, Sebastian Aliberti, and Carmelo Milio are all Westchester natives who have known each other since high school. Mesce has years of experience in the restaurant industry, while Aliberti and Milio have expertise in the business world. From their longstanding friendship, combination of skills, and love of good food, The Taco Project was born.

Mesce said in October that the most popular items on the menu at The Taco Project are steak tacos, birria (slow-cooked beef brisket) tacos, burritos and bowls. His personal favorite is the battered fish tacos.

"We put an emphasis on bringing in fresh ingredients, while still offering competitive pricing. We also focus on providing outstanding service. We want people to really enjoy themselves at The Taco Project. From the music to the ambience, to having a great team in place — it's all part of the experience when you eat at The Taco Project," Mesce said. "And now, with our new food truck, we can bring The Taco Project to you!"

The owners say that Chef Juan Aguero has also launched a weekend brunch menu every Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Featured dishes will include carne asada tacos, breakfast burritos, Taco Project waffles and bottomless brunch cocktails.
