Town-by-Town Rain Totals From Monday In The Hudson Valley: NWS

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The National Weather Service released data for rainfall throughout the region on Monday. Though the full time period was 12 hours, most of it fell on southern Westchester during one afternoon storm.

The NWS alert Monday read: "Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle."

And it rained hard.

"We just got A LOT of rain in a short period of time; an age-old recipe for flash flooding," Yonkers police wrote on Facebook.
