Westchester County Beaches, Pools Ready For Summer 2024 Opening Day

After Memorial Day, the beaches will be open weekends only until Sunday, June 23, when the summer schedule goes into effect.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Ignore the weather forecast — just grab the sunscreen and head to one of Westchester County's beaches during Memorial Day weekend.

The county announced that Glen Island Beach in New Rochelle and Croton Point Beach in Croton-on-Hudson will open on a pre-season basis Saturday, Sunday and Monday, weather permitting.

After the upcoming weekend, the beaches will be open weekends only through Sunday, June 23, when the full summer schedule begins.

Starting Saturday, June 29 through Labor Day on Monday, September 2, Glen Island Beach will open daily, while Croton Point Beach will be open Wednesdays through Sundays. Hours will be 11 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., with last entry at 6 p.m. Entry and parking fees apply. Proof of Westchester County residency, either a Westchester County Park Pass or a New York State driver’s license showing a valid Westchester County address, is required for Glen Island.

"Westchester County Beaches are a beautiful local destination for residents to relax and enjoy the summer with family and friends," County Executive George Latimer said. "I’m excited to welcome everyone back to the beaches, and to the pools in June, to experience everything Westchester County Parks has to offer."

Effective Friday, June 28, through Labor Day, the four county-owned pools will open for the summer season. County pools are located at Saxon Woods Park in White Plains, Sprain Ridge Park and Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers, and Willson's Woods Park in Mount Vernon. Hours will be 11 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., with last entry at 6 p.m. Entry and parking fees apply. Proof of Westchester County residency, either a Westchester County Park Pass or a New York State driver’s license showing a valid Westchester County address, is required for all pools.

"Summer is peak-season for the Westchester County Parks Department with pools and beaches open, and a variety of activities and programs available County-wide," Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation, Kathy O’Connor, said. "I'm looking forward to sharing another season full of fun events with our park-goers."
