The Hudson Valley has a fast-growing reputation as a destination for film and television production. And Westchester has taken a marquee role in some of the industry's most beloved shows.

Apple TV's "Severance," which has filmed at locations including Bier House in Pleasantville's midcentury modern Usonia neighborhood and Trinity Lutheran Church in White Plains, earned 27 nominations, including "Outstanding Drama Series," along with nominations for acting, directing, editing, production design, choreography and casting.

HBO Max's "The Penguin," shot at Sleepy Hollow Country Club and Yonkers locations that doubled as Gotham City, followed closely with 24 nominations — including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, and recognition for acting, production design, cinematography, costumes, and editing.

"Westchester has a great variety of housing stock, amazing architecture, stone walls, big boulders, and beautiful and geologically chaotic landscapes that contribute to a look that's not anywhere else," Severance's location supervisor Ryan Smith explained. "Westchester is so strong visually that it helped inform the whole look of the show. There’s a richness and authenticity you can't fake."
