• Bank Robbed In North Babylon, Marking 2nd Incident On LI This Week: Police (patch.com) — A bank on Deer Park Avenue in North Babylon was robbed Wednesday afternoon when a man passed a note demanding cash and fled before officers arrived. Police released a description of the suspect and are asking anyone with information to contact the Major Case Unit or submit anonymous Crime Stoppers tips, with a possible reward for help leading to an arrest.
   

• Austin Lynch, Nesconset teen accused of fatally shooting ex-girlfriend Emily Finn, of Sayville, requests psychiatric exam at court hearing (newsday.com) — A high-profile Suffolk County murder case now has a direct North Babylon connection, as defense attorney William Wexler of North Babylon seeks a psychiatric exam for 18-year-old defendant Austin Lynch. Prosecutors say Lynch fatally shot his former girlfriend in Nesconset in November and survived a self-inflicted gunshot, while a judge has ordered him held in an adult jail and set the next court date for January 20.
   

• Late night poachers caught driving around with dead deer in Upstate NY (syracuse.com) — State environmental officers recently handled several wildlife and hunting cases, including rescuing an injured Cooper’s hawk from a North Babylon home and taking it to a rehabilitator. The roundup also describes deer poaching arrests upstate, a freed doe in Oakdale, and fishing violations in Jamaica Bay, highlighting how ECOs protect animals and enforce hunting laws statewide.
