NORTH FORK, NY — A popular new event is back again this year in Southold: The 4th Annual Pickleball Tournament to benefit the Southold Historical Museum is coming soon.

The Southold Historical Museum's "History in the Making" Pickleball Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 7 at Tasker Park in Peconic.

Intermediate and advanced players are encouraged to register in advance; limited slots are available and registration is now open. There are two tournaments to choose from and different levels of play depending on skill.

The morning tournament, which runs from 9 a.m. to noon, will be held in change partner, round-robin format. That tournament includes 48 people, three pools of 16, segmented by intermediate, advanced intermediate, and advanced players.

The afternoon session, which starts at 12:30 p.m., is a competitive team tournament. There is a limit of 16 players per level, eight teams of two for each level. The event is gender blind. Register for level 3.5-4. or 4.0+. The Afternoon Team Tournament will be double elimination, meaning a person will have to lose twice before being eliminated. Games are first team to 11 points. Each person and a named partner must register for the Team Afternoon Tournament.

Due to limited number of players, advanced registration is suggested to avoid being shut out. The registration fee is $55 for either tournament ($60 after April 15). Refreshments will be provided. The event has a rain date of June 8.

Kicked off iin 2022, the fundraising event has brought new faces and a lot of fun to the Museum’s schedule of activities, organizers said."A cross between tennis and racquetball, pickleball is an inspiring sport for people of all ages. Supporters are invited to get moving, take in some fresh air, and make some friends all while supporting Southold Historical Museum," they added.
