Fire Doused on LIRR Tracks Near Fifth Street in Greenport
A small fire on the Long Island Rail Road tracks near Fifth Street in the village is quickly extinguished by Greenport firefighters.
Members of the quickly extinguished a small fire that broke out on a few railroad ties on the Long Island Rail Road neart Fifth Street in Greenport at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
Fire Department Chief Kenny White said that he thought the blaze was most likely caused by intense sun rays on dry wood that caused combustion or by someone throwing a cigarette.
