LI Man Crashes Into 2 Parked Cars, Swings Liquor Bottle At Witness: PD

He also attempted to flee the scene, police say

GREENPORT, NY — A man was arrested after he crashed into two parked cars, swung a liquor bottle at a witness, and attempted to flee, police said.

According to Southold Town police, the incident took place on March 14, at 10:45 p.m. at the intersection of 6th and Brown Streets in Greenport.

Jeyson Calate-Dubon, 22, of Greenport, was driving a 2013 Dodge Dart sedan south on 6th St and struck two parked vehicles, police said.

The owner of the involved parked vehicles witnessed the crash and attempted to speak with Calate-Dubon, who immediately fled on foot; the witness followed Calate-Dubon and again tried to confront him, police said. Calate-Dubon then swung a liquor bottle at the witness, nearly striking him, police said.

Calate-Dubon continued on foot and was observed by officers entering the backyard of a residence on Wiggins Street, police said. Calate-Dubon was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit, police said.

Calate-Dubon was found to be intoxicated, charged with driving while intoxicated and second-degree menacing, placed under arrest, and held at police headquarters for arraignment, authorities said.
