UPDATE: Felony DWI Charge Follows Tuesday Afternoon Crash
Riverhead man charged with felony DWI.
Update, 10:40 p.m.: Southold Town Police said a Riverhead man was charged with felony DWI after it was determined he was driving drunk when he struck a North Fork Sanitation garbage truck on Route 25 in Laurel on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, 67-year-old Tomasz Myskow was driving a cargo van when it was involved in an accident with a garbage truck. Myskow was transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital, as was the passenger in the van. Police did not mention whether or not anyone in the sanitation truck was transported to the hospital.
Mysko was charged with felony DWI, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Original story: One man was airlifted to Stony Brook University hospital and another was sent to Eastern Long Island Hospital after a cargo van collided with a sanitation truck on Route 25 shortly before 2:30 p.m. in Laurel Tuesday afternoon.
The accident occurred just west of Bray Avenue. Police shut down the road and detoured traffic in both directions. Westbound traffic was detoured down Bray Avenue, and eastbound traffic north on Aldrich Lane.

According to Mattituck Fire Department Chief Eric Haas, the truck – owned by North Fork Sanitation – was attempting to turn on Main Road when the collision occurred.
The two men in the cargo van were hospitalized.
Members of the Mattituck and Cutchogue Fire Departments and Southold Town Police responded to the scene.
