Man Arrested, Charged After Crashing Into A Tree On North Fork: Police

He was found to be driving while ability impaired by alcohol and cannabis, police say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — A Cutchogue man was arrested after a Southold crash on St. Patrick's Day, police said.

According to Southold Town police, the incident took place on March 17 at 11:18 p.m. on Lake Drive. Thomas Haynie, 21, was driving a 2007 Mazda 3 when he crashed into a tree on the front lawn of a Lake Drive home, police said.

Haynie was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of alcohol and drugs, a misdemeanor, after he was found to be driving while impaired by alcohol and cannabis, police said.

He was transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital by Southold Fire Department Rescue for treatment of his injuries, police said.
