NORTH FORK, NY — The search is on for a missing parrot, last seen on Wednesday at the Southold / Greenport border, his devastated owner said.

According to David Rosenbloom, Artemis, his family's one-and-a-half year old African gray parrot, was last seen flying south across County Road 48/North Road/Middle Road toward Stony Shore Drive/Bayberry Lane and Wild Cherry Way in Southold.

"She's probably up in a tree," he said. "She whistles, chortles, squawks, makes beeping sounds. She will respond and trade sounds if comfortable."
