More Than 3.4K Without Power On LI After Storm
Long Island could still see rain throughout the day Friday, with some gusty winds, the National Weather Service says.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Heavy rain and gusty winds of up to 44 miles per hour in some areas during the storm Thursday night led to downed trees, branches and wires — leaving 3,433 currently without power across Long Island, according to PSEG.
As of 8 a.m., PSEG Long Island said power had been restored to more than 6,700 customers affected by the storm since 3 p.m. Thursday.
PSEG Long Island said it expected that the majority of remaining customers affected by the storm would be restored Friday.

According to Faye Marrone, meteorologist with the National Weather Service Office in Upton, the bulk of the rain seen Thursday night and into Friday morning has already pushed east of the area. Some showers and thunderstorms were taking place Friday morning to the west of Long Island in New Jersey, with a low chance of showers and thunderstorms across Long Island Friday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Winds will continue Friday, with gusts of 30 to 35 miles per hour Friday morning that will gradually decline into Friday evening and overnight, Marrone said.

Saturday looks dry for Long Island, with 25 to 30 mile per hour winds midday and a slight chance of some precipitation, she said.
Temperatures Friday will be in the mid-50s Friday on the East End, with highs around 60 across the rest of Long Island, Marrone said. Overnight, those temps will drop to the 40s, with "noticeably cooler" temperatures Saturday in the low to mid-50s across Long Island, she said.
