Police: 'Click It or Ticket' in Southold Town

Southold Town Police announce a period of checkpoints to make sure you buckle up.

Be sure to buckle up when you get behind the wheel this week.

Members of the will be participating in the New York State Governor's Traffic Safety Committee's "Buckle Up New York, Click It or Ticket" campaign, starting Monday and continuing through June 5.

Throughout the two-week period, police officers will be conducting high-visibility checkpoints throughout Southold Town to enforce the use of seat belts amongst motorists and passengers alike.

Through the efforts of these seat belt enforcement waves, which are funded by a New York State safety grant, the state has reached its highest-ever seat belt use rates of 89 percent, according to a statement from Southold Town Police.
