Police: Mattituck Man Charged With Assault on Thanksgiving

Southold Town Police report an incident of assault on Pike Street in Mattituck on Thursday.

Zachary Pileski, 21, of Mattituck, was charged with third-degree assault on Nov. 24 at 4:23 a.m.  after police responded to the report of an unconscious 29-year-old  man lying in the parking lot near the train station on Pike Street in Mattituck, police said. Police determined he was the victim of an assault and the man was taken by members of the Mattituck Fire Department to Eastern Long Island Hospital for medical attention, police said. Investigation revealed that Pileski had tried to stop a fight between the man and another subject and struck the aggressor in the face, causing him to lose consciousness and fall face first into the pavement, police said. Pileski was later arrested, processed and released on an appearance ticket to return to court at a later date.
