Police Use Taser to Quell East Marion Man After Fight
Southold Town Police report using a taser and pepper spray to arrest an East Marion man after a Fourth of July fight in Greenport.

Wayne Baker, 46, of East Marion was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest on July 4 at 8:30 p.m., after police responded to a report of two men fighting at the polo grounds near the Greenport water tower on Moore's Lane, police said. An officer at the scene observed Baker on top of and fighting with a 36-year-old Greenport man — both of whom were intoxicated, police said.
The officer on the scene reported that Baker, though he admitted to starting the fight, was "extremely uncooperative, belligerent and argumentative." The 36-year-old man did not wish to sign a complaint and left the scene. Police advised Baker to make arrangements for a ride home but he refused, became increasingly belligerent and refused to move out of the roadway during heavy traffic conditions, police said.

Police then attempted to arrest Baker for disorderly conduct but he resisted and fought to the point that the officers had to use pepper spray and a taser on Baker to make the arrest, police said.
