NORTH FORK, NY — Parker is a sweet little pup who saw all his litter mates go home — and yet, has found himself back alone at the shelter for all the first months of his life.

Gabrielle Stroup, director of operations for The North Fork Animal Welfare League, said Parker is a Lab mix, just only a little over a year old, a "sweet young guy. He came in as a puppy with his litter mates and they were all quickly adopted."

But alas, she added: "Poor Parker was brought back to the shelter in November 2023. His adopters just couldn’t handle a puppy."

And so, Parker has sat waiting and hoping for months, Stroup said.

"He is sweet as can be — very good with other dogs," she said.

Parker, she said, also tested well with cats. "He loves everyone. He’s a nice, medium-sized guy at just around 40 lbs. He now walks well on a leash and is house-trained. He doesn’t deserve to grow up in a kennel," she said. "We feel so badly he’s been with us this much time at such a young age."

Parker is at the League's Aquebogue location at 324 Church Lane. To meet him or for additional information, call 631-765-1811.
