Question of the Day: Should the Osprey Sculpture Leave Greenport?

Southold Town wants to move the metal Osprey sculpture, which has been a part of the Greenport seaside skyline for years, to Cochran park in Peconic. Do you think this is the right move?

The Southold Town Board voted on Tuesday night to accept a metal sculpture of an Osprey as a gift to the town and move it from its harborside location at the end of the docks in Greenport to Park in Peconic.

A member of the group which was commissioned to set up the sculpture in Greenport said that the Osprey, which was created to help remember the tragic events of 9/11, is too far from the public. The group wants to before the 10th year anniversary of 9/11 this September.

Do you think this is the right move, or would you rather continue to see the Osprey against the backdrop of a maritime town and a harbor?
