1 Dead In Central Nyack House Fire

Clarkstown Police detectives ask anyone with information to call them.

NYACK, NY — A Nyack resident died Saturday in a house fire, Clarkstown police said.

Police and firefighters were called to 49 Laurel Road at 4:50 p.m. for a reported structure fire with a resident possibly still inside.

Arriving officers found a single-family home with fire engulfing the first floor. Central Nyack FD was there along with several other volunteer fire companies, police said.

The responding firefighters searched the house, and located an unconscious man in an upstairs bedroom. Although emergency responders attempted to resuscitate the 74-year-old, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries, police said.

Central Nyack fire officials thanked all the volunteers and departments providing mutual aid, including Valley Cottage, West Nyack, Piermont, Orangeburg, Congers and Tappan, plus the Nyack Community Ambulance Corps.
