Albertus's Parahus Named First-Team All-State
The New York State Sportswriter's Association released its 2012-13 girls basketball all-state selections Monday.
The New York State Sportswriter's Association named Albertus Magnus senior guard Maeve Parahus first-team all-state in Class A for the 2012-13 season.

Five Rockland County players made the lists in Class A, but Parahus was the only first-team selection. The Rockland all-state players are:

Class A
- First team: Maeve Parahus, Albertus Magnus senior guard
- Second team: Kristen McLaughlin, Tappan Zee junior guard
- Third team: Marissa Scognamiglio, Pearl River senior guard
- Seventh team: Amanda DeCourcey, Pearl River senior guard
- Eighth team: Ryan Doherty, Albertus Magnus junior guard
Parahus, who has signed to play college basketball at Division I Manhattan College, was a fifth-team selection as a junior. As a senior, she led Albertus to an appearance in the Section 1 Class A championship game, scoring 36 points in a 59-56 double-overtime victory over Pearl River in the semifinals.
