Calm, Cool Christmas Holiday Weekend: Hudson Valley Forecast

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — There is no snow in the forecast. This must be distinctly understood, to quote Charles Dickens.

"Don’t know how to tell everyone this ... Looking at the weather ahead, it’s looking very bleak for a White Christmas. Sorry," Todd Snow of Hudson Valley Weather said on Facebook. "In fact, there’s nothing in sight till after Christmas on the 26th, 27th, and 28th, and yes, it’s looking like rain again as of now."

What we will get is mostly sunny weather, with light winds (and some gusts). It will also be seasonably cold.

"We have our coldest night of the season, thus far, tomorrow night," Bruce Furbeck of Hudson Valley Weather said on Facebook. "After a high near freezing on Thursday, morning lows on Friday will range from 16°F to 20°F. Friday peaks in the mid 30s. It will be a cooler weekend, with highs in the upper 30s and low 40s, and lows in the 20s."

It will warm up again next week, with what Furbeck called "the so-called Christmas torch."

Back into the high 40s we go — and back comes the chance of rain.

• Wednesday - Sunny. Highs in the lower 40s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
• Tonight - Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 20s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph after midnight.
• Thursday - Sunny. Highs in the upper 30s. North winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
• Thursday Night - Mostly clear. Lows around 20. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the evening.
• Friday - Sunny. Highs in the upper 30s. North winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Friday Night - Partly cloudy in the evening, then becoming mostly cloudy. Lows in the mid 20s.
• Saturday - Mostly cloudy. Highs in the lower 40s.
• Saturday Night - Mostly cloudy. Lows in the lower 30s.
• Sunday - Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 40s.
• Sunday Night - Mostly clear in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 20s.
• Christmas Day - Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 40s.
• Monday Night - Mostly cloudy. Lows in the mid 30s.
• Tuesday - Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of rain showers. Highs in the upper 40s.
