I have been a a resident of Nyack for twenty years. During that time, I have dedicated my energies to the Village of Nyack. As President of the Nyack Chamber of Commerce, I have had the privilege of helping bring our downtown back to life during and after the pandemic. I also provide management of revived downtown events, such as the Nyack Halloween Parade and Classic Car show.
I know about what is happening in our Village, and can bring a fresh and caring perspective to the Village Board of Trustees, Nyack has many challenges before us, including a housing crisis, panhandling downtown, major housing developments, and increasing access to Village government.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
The housing crisis in Nyack is a source of sorrow to so many families. The prices of rental apartments are out of control. The Village must enact the Emergency Tenant Protection Act as soon as possible.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I am the only candidate with broad experience in Nyack, including all the organizations on which I serve.
I am the only candidate with experience running non-profit organizations in Nyack, including being the president of the Nyack Chamber of Commerce, and a Director of the tourism organization called Visit Nyack, Inc.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)?
I believe that the Board of Trustees of the Village of Nyack does an excellent job -- under challenging circumstances. I would say that the Board needs a broader perspective, and needs to communicate more effective and transparently with the citizens of Nyack.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.
- Address the housing rental affordability crisis
- Increase access to Village government.
- Manage major development
- Improve the condition of the streets
- Attract more tourism to our downtown
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I brought the self-adhesive postage stamps to the United States. It was a complex business venture, with seven international partners, and took many years to accomplish. Millions of tongues are now spared the aftertaste of glue, thanks to my work.
Locally, serving as President of the Nyack Chamber of Commerce requires great focus and attention to what is happening in Nyack, especially for our wonderful downtown. It is a privilege to help make Nyack a great place to live and work.
The best advice ever shared with me was:
Always behave with care for others in every interaction you have.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I thank Nyack voters for taking the time to learn more about my qualifications and experience. I have dedicated effort and care in all my activities in Nyack, and hope to continue that as a Trustee of our Village Board of Trustees.
Thank you for your consideration.
