Early Voting Begins In June Primaries Across The Hudson Valley

Where Conservative, Democratic, GOP or Working Families parties have primaries, registered voters may go to the polls before June 27.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Primary Day for the 2023 elections is June 27 in New York, and early voting begins June 17 in the Hudson Valley in primaries for voters in the Conservative, Democratic, Republican and Working Families parties.

The Office of the Attorney General will make its Election Protection Hotline available during New York’s early voting period, which runs June 17 - 25. The hotline will be available to troubleshoot and resolve a range of issues encountered by voters, including voting by absentee ballot or in person at their polling place. Voters who experience problems can report issues by calling the hotline at (866) 390-2992 or submitting complaints online. The OAG has also created a guide addressing frequently asked questions to assist voters.

Dutchess County

In Dutchess County, there are Conservative Party primaries in Hyde Park. There are Democratic primaries in the city of Poughkeepsie, Milan, North East, Pine Plains, Red Hook, Stanford and Wappinger.

Republican primaries will be held in Lagrange and Wappinger. There will be Working Families primaries in Amenia, Beekman, Clinton, Beacon, city of Poughkeepsie, Dover, East Fishkill, Fishkill, Hyde Park, Lagrange, Milan, North East, Pawling, Pine Plains, Pleasant Valley, town of Poughkeepsie, Red Hook, Rhinebeck, Stanford, Union Vale, Wappinger and Washington.

Early voting in Dutchess County will take place at four locations at various scheduled times. Any eligible voter may use any of the locations. They are:

  • Mid-Hudson Library Auditorium, 105 Market St., Poughkeepsie
  • Boardman Road Library, 141 Boardman Rd., Poughkeepsie
  • Rhinebeck Town Hall, 80 East Market St., Rhinebeck
  • Wappinger Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Rd., Wappingers Falls

Orange County

In Orange County, there are Democratic primary races in Cornwall and the city of Newburgh. There are Republican primaries in Chester, Montgomery, Mount Hope, New Windsor and the village of Woodbury.

Orange County will have two sites available for early voting which may be used by all enrolled voters in the county when open:

  • City of Newburgh, Newburgh Activity Center, 401 Washington St., Newburgh.
  • Caroline Building (former OC Dept. of Social Services), 23 Hatfield Lane, Goshen.

Putnam County

There are six Republican primaries for town offices in Carmel, Patterson and Southeast. Click here for a sample ballot.

Registered Republican voter in one of those three towns may vote early at the Putnam County Board of Elections Early Voting site, 25 Old Route 6, Carmel, NY 10512.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. except for two dayswhen the polls will be open to voters from noon to 8 p.m.

Rockland County

There are 11 primaries in Rockland County, for candidates seeking Conservative, Democratic, Republican or Working Families parties lines for various November elections.

Rockland will have five Early Voting Centers open on a schedule for the primary election; registered voters may access any one:

  • Orangetown Town Hall, 26 West Orangeburg Road, Orangeburg, New York 10962

  • Stony Point Community Center (RHO), 5 Club House Lane, Stony Point, New York 10980

Ulster County

In Ulster County, there are Democratic primary elections for legislator of District 20; Kingston mayor, Ward 1 alderman and Ward 4 alderman; Gardiner supervisor; Hurley supervisor, clerk/tax collector and town council; New Paltz town council; Saugerties town council; Shandaken town council and Woodstock supervisor and town council.

There is a Republican primary for Shawangunk supervisor and town council. There is a Working Families Party primary for Saugerties town justice.

There are four early voting locations in Ulster County for the June 27 primary; any eligible registered voter may use any one at the scheduled times:

  • Kingston Midtown Neighborhood Center – 467 Broadway, Kingston
  • Shawangunk Town Office Building – 14 Central Ave., Wallkill
  • Woodstock Community Center – 56 Rock City Rd., Woodstock
  • New Paltz Community Center – 3 Veteran Dr., New Paltz

Westchester County

There are Democratic Party primaries in the village of Mamaroneck, towns of Mount Kisco, Pelham, and cities of Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, and Yonkers.

There are Republican Party primaries in the town of Harrison and city of Yonkers.

Voters registered in those parties in the village of Mamaroneck, towns of Harrison, Mount Kisco, Pelham, and cities of Mount Vernon, New Rochelle and Yonkers are eligible to cast an early ballot following this schedule at any of 11 early voting locations:
