HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Another snow storm from the northern Plains is expected to move into Northeast Tuesday, but may have only a peripheral effect on the region.

"The exact track of that snow band could cause some surprises for Tuesday morning in the Hudson Valley," Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather said on Facebook. "At this time, the accumulating snow is likely to miss or just graze the SW corner of the Hudson Valley (Sullivan, Orange & Rockland counties)."

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous outlook for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties, saying the quick moving low pressure system could bring a swath of up to an inch of snowfall across portions of the region late Monday into early Tuesday morning.

That band of snow is so narrow that the NWS isn't predicting any snow at all for Ulster County.

"For places such as New York City, where a sizable snow drought continues, the storm may briefly start as light rain or a mix, but quickly change over to snow Monday night. Far fewer impacts are likely in the northern suburbs, where conditions may stay dry," Renee Duff, AccuWeather meteorologist.

However, the NWS said, there is potential for slippery travel during the Tuesday morning commute.

After the precipitation stops, gusty winds are expected.
