Happening This Weekend: Free Music and Food, and a Haunted Tour

Read on to see why leaving the villages this weekend will leave you insolvent and render you un-American.

Friday

• Starting at 5 p.m. this evening is Black Bear Saloon's "Proud To Be An American" carnival. Stop in for food, drink and games. Patriotic bandannas and apple pie-scented cologne encouraged.
• Check out a guitarist who "taps, tickles, slaps and soothes" his axe; Preston Reed will be at Piermont's Turning Point Cafe tonight at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20.
• It's an Italian Feast and Carnival in Tappan this weekend... and it's free. Stop by for authentic eats and music, and a possible guest appearance by Silvio Berlusconi (well, no).

Saturday

• You'll have to cross the bridge for this one, but it may be worth the trip. Learn the lore of Sleepy Hollow's most-feared headless equestrain—and poor Ichabod—with a guided tour of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. It starts at 7 p.m., and costs $20.
• Nyack Library continues its Carnegie Room Concerts with a 7:30 p.m. performance by pianist Sandra Russo.
• Brave the Palisades Center's weekend parking lot nightmare to check out the Fall Harvest Street Fair (note: it's on the mall's fourth floor). Click here for details.

Sunday

• As always, Sunday boasts Piermont's farmers' market—it starts at 9:30 a.m. in the M&T Bank parking lot. Click here for a list of Patch's picks.
• New York's Renaissance Faire continues this weekend; entry is $19, and the event runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. I'll be there, because my sister's boyfriend's dad scored me a free ticket (isn't that how most people end up at a Renaissance Faire?)
