HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Hot and humid conditions will result in maximum heat index values of 100 to 103 degrees throughout the region on Wednesday — plus there is a chance of severe thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Rockland and Westchester counties as well as hazardous outlooks for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester.

Temperatures will be hot and humid with highs in the lower 90s in Dutchess and Ulster counties; however, there is the potential for expansion of the heat advisory if temperatures trend a few degrees warmer, the NWS said.

Wednesday's predicted storm activities could be isolated.

"The primary concern will be strong gusty winds and large hail," Bruce Furbeck of First Due Weather said on Facebook. "While it doesn’t read like much potential, the risk is there for a big surprise, hence the elevated concern."
