Impaired Driver On 9W Injures Family

A man driving while impaired by drugs crashed into a vehicle carrying a mother and three small children on Labor Day.

A Nyack man violated traffic law and consequently crashed into a vehicle carrying a woman and her three young children on Sept. 6—Labor Day—at about 2:00 p.m.

Piermont Police and EMS units responded to the accident, which occurred on the Piermont stretch of 9W.

The victims were transported to Nyack Hospital with minor injuries. After an investigation, authorities found the man was operating his vehicle while on drugs—he has been charged with driving while ability impaired.

The incident occurred when the impaired driver veered out of his lane and into the opposite lane's shoulder, colliding with the victims.

Driving while ability carries less serious charges than driving while intoxicated.
