Nyack Parking Hearing Continues: Upcoming Meetings For Towns, Villages

NYACK, NY — John Adams famously said, "Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right … and a desire to know."

There are plenty of upcoming chances to help tend to our democracy close to the roots. Two public meetings are scheduled for this week that affect Piermont and the Nyacks.

  • Upper Nyack Board of Trustees, 7 p.m. special meeting, Old Stone Meeting House, 347 North Broadway
  • Clarkstown Zoning Board of Appeals, 7 p.m., Town Hall. Among the agenda items: Seeking variances and a special permit for parking and drive aisles in the floodplain, in order to demolish the existing building at 58-90 Route 59 in Nanuet and construct a Chick-Fil-A restaurant with drive-thru and additional site improvements. Among the agenda items: Continuation of previously opened public hearing on proposal to eliminate minimum accessory off-street parking requirements for commercial uses in the DMU-1 Zoning District, and reduce minimum off-street parking requirements for residential uses resulting from the conversion of existing buildings from commercial to residential use or the expansion of existing buildings vertically for residential use
