Palisades Parkway Police Honor Cops, Civilian for Lifesaving Actions

Ceremony recognizes efforts on New Jersey Section of parkway.

The Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department today plans to honor police officers and a civilian for lifesaving actions on the New Jersey section of the parkway.

The 5:30 p.m. awards ceremony is set for the Historic Park located on Hudson Terrace in Fort Lee, NJ.

One officer and a civilian are to be honored for their lifesaving actions during a sexual assault and fatal accident on July 2. A cab driver was credited for stopping a sex attack in Fort Lee, NJ, in an incident in which the suspected attacker was then killed in a fiery crash on the parkway.

Additionally, a lieutenant, an officer, a Sheriff’s officer and a K-9 will be cited for their actions in stopping a jumper from leaping off a cliff along the Palisades in New Jersey.

The PIP police are also honoring two sergeants for their work achievements, and seven police officers will be sworn in. A new lieutenant and two new sergeants will also be sworn in to their posts.
