Rockland Coronavirus: Almost 40% Of Adults Have Received Vaccine
County health officials listed locations where vaccine doses have been allocated this week.
ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — As the number of vaccinated residents continues to climb, Rockland County health officials have listed locations where vaccine doses distributed by the state — 4,670 this week - have been allocated locally.
As of 11 a.m. Thursday, 88,378 Rockland residents, had received at least one dose of vaccine, according to the state tracker — almost 40 percent of the county's adults.

State health officials continue to run pop-up clinics around the county. The next one, at Grace Episcopal Church in Nyack, will be open Saturday. All appointments are filled. Last week one was held at the Haverstraw Community Center.

Many of these pop-up sites are set up through partnerships with public and private health care providers. Here's how it works: Host sites and partner providers conduct outreach in their communities and work with local leaders and organizations to identify eligible residents and schedule appointments.

Rockland officials continue to pressure the state Health Department to open a mass vaccination site in the county. There are currently 1,899 active coronavirus cases, with 49 people hospitalized with COVID-19. The death toll climbed to 913.
Rockland is part of the Hudson region, whose seven counties have a combined population of 2.3 million, and which has four state-run mass vaccination sites, one for Westchester residents only. Long Island, whose two counties have a combined population of 2.8 million, has five.
In the Hudson region, as of Thursday Westchester County has the highest vaccination rate per total population, 31.5 percent. Next highest is Ulster County, with 30.6 percent. Putnam County has a 29.8 percent vaccination rate, while Dutchess County has a 27.8 percent rate. Rockland County has a per-total-population vaccination rate of 27.1 percent, Sullivan County's rate is 24.0 percent and Orange County's rate is the lowest, at 22.1 percent, according to the state vaccine tracker.
More than 1 million vaccine doses were administered to New Yorkers in the past seven days. For the first time, more than 200,000 COVID-19 vaccines were administered across the state's distribution network in the last 24 hours, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday.
