Some Sunshine Forecast For New Year's Holiday Weekend In The HV

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Everything's so saturated at this point that 2 inches of rain flooded out a major thoroughfare — Route 59 — for hours in Rockland County on Thursday.

But we can see some light in the forecast, starting Saturday.

It's going to get colder, though, dropping from highs in the lower 50s today to highs in the low 40s on Sunday — and by midnight New Year's Eve, temperatures will be in the 30s.

It may not be a long dry spell, however; our next chance for rain is Thursday.

• Sunday - Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 40s. West winds around 5 mph.
• Sunday Night - Mostly cloudy. Lows in the lower 30s.
• New Years Day - Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 40s.
• Monday Night - Partly cloudy in the evening, then becoming mostly clear. Lows in the upper 20s.
