Toys 'R' Us To Open West Nyack Location

Christmas shopping may be a little bit easier this year.

Toy 'R' Us is planning to open a new location at the Palisades Center in West Nyack this December. It will beat out the Nanuet store as the closest Toys 'R' Us to Nyack and Piermont residents.  

But take note: this toy store will not be around long. The new location is one of the company's "express stores" or "pop-up stores," retail outlets that have a smaller selection and operate only briefly during particularly busy shopping seasons like Christmas-time. If the store does well, however, it may become a permanent fixture, Toys 'R' Us officials said.

Currently, the mall has niche toy stores—like Build-A-Bear Workshop and The Disney Store—but no comprehensive toy store.

The West Nyack Toys 'R' Us opening is part of the company's  ambitious expansion plan: it plans on operating approximately 600 similar stores this winter, and opening other, long-term locations, too. In total, the project means an extra 2.4 million square feet of toy store space, and will create about 10,000 nation-wide jobs.
