is celebrating 200 years since its charter with 200 historical vignettes—and each one was created by students.
A patchwork quilt is hanging in the school's auditorium, peppered with illustrations and information that spotlight each year of the school's history.
"They chose local, national and international events," explained principal Gina Cappiello. "The kids did all the research themselves."

The quilt's unveiling was celebrated with an original ditty penned by school board member Michael Mark, who also plays with the Tom Chapin band.
Students kicked off the academic year with a tribune to 9/11 first responders—Capiello said Thursday's event was another fitting capstone.

"We wanted to finish the school year the same way we started it," she said.
