Building Inspector Eric Philipp said no cause has been determined.

“It may have had something to do with the amount of snow for the storm Friday night into Saturday,” he said.

Also, rain that fell overnight, “might not have had anywhere to drain and added excess weight,” he noted.

According to Philipp, the building was only being used for storage, and no one was inside at the time.

The property is owned by Talmadge Street Property LLC of New York City, records show.
