Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Advisors for Rockland and Westchester Teens

Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

Advisors for Rockland and Westchester Teens
BBYO Hudson Valley is seeking volunteer advisors to serve as positive role models for teens. Working alongside staff members, advisors help supervise and guide teen members in developing new leadership skills and growing into dynamic and engaged young Jewish leaders. Advisors must be 21+, volunteer on periodic nights and weekends, attend chapter or regional events, and complete a background check.

Food Pantry Volunteers
Westchester Community College's community food pantry helps individuals facing food insecurity. Volunteers can help by organizing and stocking shelves on Thursday mornings. Volunteers must be able to lift and carry food items weighing at least 25 pounds and be able to bend down, kneel, and reach for items.
Date: 6/12 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; Thursdays

Senior and Youth Health Walk
Volunteers of all ages are needed to assist with registration, check in guests, provide support along the race route, and help distribute snacks and refreshments during the first annual "1 Step at a Time" 5K and walk. This event supports One Change at a Time's intergenerational programs and raises awareness about health disparities affecting both youth and seniors while fostering community spirit through fun and exercise. This is a great event for families and groups, and perfect for teens 16+ (or 13+ when registering as part of an adult's team).

Bedding Team Leaders
Sleep in Heavenly Peace is dedicated to building, assembling, and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need. The Bedding Team Lead will help secure and organize in-kind donations of bedding to be delivered alongside these bunk beds. Volunteers must be 21+.
