HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The good news is that the weather should be great on Sunday for one of those First Day walks. However, if you're going to be outside in White Plains or Times Square on New Year's Eve watching a glittering ball drop, you should prepare for a bit of rain.

"Most of the rain in the Northeast is expected Saturday night into early Sunday morning, with the heaviest rainfall expected along the I-95 corridor," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist.

On neither day do you have to worry much about frostbite. Unlike the last holiday weekend, during which 20,000 people lost power in the Hudson Valley and 40 people died in western New York, this weekend is going to be mild.

"Temperatures will be 10-20 degrees above average for much of next week," Sosnowski said, warning of one disruptive possibility: warmer, moist air moving over the colder and, in some spots, snow-covered ground could result in foggy conditions.

"In reality a good portion of Saturday doesn’t look too bad if you don’t mind dodging showers," said Alex Marra of Hudson Valley Weather.

Here's the daily forecast from the NWS based on southern Westchester:
