BOCES Pay Freeze

A pay freeze will be implemented for Boards of Cooperative Educational Services administrators and supervisors.

The Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES), which the Ossining and Croton-on-Hudson school districts are a part of, has implemented a pay freeze for supervisors and administrators. BOCES provides the Ossining Union Free School District, Croton-Harmon School District and others with shared services and educational programs.

The pay freeze was agreed to by the Administrators and Supervisors Association (ASA) of Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES. The freeze is part of the Administrators and Supervisors Association's new three-year contract. The freeze is set to be in place for one-year. Boces Director of Business Affairs Todd Currie says that the new contract amounts to a 1.65% increase in total.

After the first year freeze, there will be a $2,000 increase for the 2013-2014 school year. There will also be a one-time $2,000 stipend that year. For the 2013-2014 school year, there will be a $3,000 increase.

“I’m proud of my administrative team for its willingness to take a salary freeze this year, especially given that they do not receive step increases," said BOCES Superintendent James Langlois.

This is the second year in a row that ASA members have agreed to a one-year 0% pay increase.

"This was a difficult process, but we recognize the financial constraints that all school districts, including BOCES, are operating under,” said Robert Kelderhouse, president of the ASA. “In that spirit, we wanted to do our part to help contain costs going forward.”

In addition to the pay agreement, newly hired employees will have to pay higher health insurance premiums than current workers.

“The administrators and supervisors showed great fiscal prudence in the negotiation process and the Board of Education is very appreciative of the efforts made by the entire negotiating team," said BOCES Board of Education President Richard Kreps.
