_Happy Columbus Day. And a friendly reminder from both villages that village offices, Post Office, and of course the schools are closed today with no regular trash pick up.

_Let's Roll! The village of Ossining urges folks interested in letting the "Let's Roll" sculpture keep permanent residence here to donate before its Oct. 26 removal date. From the village: "A crowd-funding web page has been set up on Razoo so that community members can work together to purchase this piece for the community, any amount will make a difference and is appreciated. DONATE NOW…TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. Help make this project possible! Donations accepted online by credit card at or by check at the Village Manager’s Office, 16 Croton Avenue, Ossining."

_Special Columbus Day hours for the very special annual pumpkin sale at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Briarcliff from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All proceeds support local and international charities. More info here.

_Day off? How about taking a moment today to re-register yourself for the Basic STAR property tax exemption. It's easier than it sounds, and now required if you want to receive this exemption in 2014 and beyond. More info here.
