Victim In Deadly I-95 Crash ID'd As 89-Year-Old Rye Woman
The three-car crash in Greenwich closed the interstate highway for several hours Monday evening, re-opening shortly before 11 p.m.
RYE — Authorities in Connecticut have released the identity of the Rye woman killed in a deadly crash on I-95 yesterday evening.
According to Connecticut State Police, 89-year-old Jill Newmark Haskel was pronounced dead at Greenwich Hospital after the crash.
The tragedy unfolded Monday evening in a three-car crash on I-95 southbound, near the Exit 3 entrance ramp, shortly before 5 p.m.

Haskel's vehicle approached the two other cars from behind, but failed to maintain its lane and struck the rear driver side corner of a vehicle in the center lane, according to the initial Connecticut State police crash investigation. Haskel's vehicle then spun, rolled onto the rear portion of another car, and slid along the roadway on its driver side, according to police.
The other two drivers, one of whom is from Purdy, the other from Greenwich, were uninjured, CSP said.

The case remains under investigation, according to Connecticut State Police. Witnesses to the collision are being asked to contact Trooper Daniel Sottini at this email address.
