
Large Turtle on 9A
Westchester County Police received a report that a large turtle was in the middle of southbound Route 9A near Cedar Lane on Monday, June 10 at 10:45 a.m. An officer removed the turtle to a safe area off the roadway.
Two Trees Down
Police responded to Route 9A south of Route 134 after two large trees came down on to the roadway on June 10 at 6:13 p.m, blocking both southbound lanes and one northbound lane. County officers were able to clear the northbound lane. The state DOT was called to remove the trees from the southbound lanes.
Club Fit Seizure
Westchester County Police responded to Club Fit on June 10 at 9:39 p.m. on a report of a woman having a seizure. The Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded and transported the woman to Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow.
Nursing Home Car Break In
An employee at Cedar Manor nursing home reported on June 12 that someone broke the driver’s side rear window of her car sometime after 7:45 a.m. while the vehicle was parked in the facility’s lot.
Nursery School Forced Entry
The director of the Briarcliff Nursery School on Morningside Drive reported to police on June 12 that someone forced open a security gate sometime overnight and entered the rear of the property. Nothing was missing and there did not appear to be any attempt to enter the building.
Coyote on Maryknoll Grounds
A resident of Ryder Road reported to police on June 12 at 3:32 p.m. seeing a coyote on the grounds of the Maryknoll Sisters residence. The animal was gone upon an officer’s arrival.
Condos Solicitor
Westchester County Police responded to the Hudson Watch condominiums on a report on June 12 at 7:57 p.m. that someone was going door-to-door in the complex soliciting donations to a private organization. A Manhattan resident was issued a summons for violating the local ordinance that requires solicitors to have a permit from the town.
Postal Damage
A resident of Riverview Road reported to county police that a stone retaining wall on his property was damaged by a postal vehicle on Friday, June 14 at 1:02 p.m. The resident said he has been in discussions with the Postal Service about repairs but wanted to document the incident with the county police as well.
