County Police had to chase a 28-year-old man through some backyards after he crashed into a tree in an Ossining park and made a run for it, leaving his wounded passenger behind.
The accident took place at 7:36 p.m. on Cedar Lane Park. Westchester County Officer Brian Tierney reported that he heard a loud noise near the park entrance. “He observed a white Nissan Altima wrapped around a tree and a woman lying on the ground outside the vehicle,” police say.
A witness told the officer the driver had fled the scene, so Tierney called in for more support. Multiple officers started a search and found the man 15 minutes later running through the backyard of a home on Cedar Lane near Route 9A.
